This book strives to address whether the cultural differences between Western and post-colonial African societies are real, political, or both. Such differences, if they do exist, are so significant as to impede the application of IHRS to post-colonial Africa. Are there plausible means, therefore, by which one may conceive an argument for the universality of human rights norms?
