Yn ystod y Dirwasgiad, bu ymdrech arwrol i geisio lliniaru peth ar y diweithdra enbyd oedd yn ardaloedd diwydiannol Cymru. Bryn-mawr yng Ngwent oedd y dre yr effeithiwyd arni waethaf, ac yma yn 1928 daeth grŵp o Grynwyr ifainc at ei gilydd i geisio gwella'r sefyllfa. Yr oedd Arbrawf Bryn-mawr yn ymgais orchestol a chwyldroadol i newid natur cymdeithas.

English Description: The story of an enterprise started by the Quakers in Brynmawr in south Wales in the 1920s. This former coal-mining town was amongst the worst hit by the Depression. In 1928 the Quakers started a settlement there, and decided that what the town needed most – more than education – was work. They took over disused factories and started a boot-mending business, and a furniture workshop.
