Description
Welsh-raised and Bristol-based, poet Paul Deaton’s début collection, A Watchful Astronomy, is full of poems that are artfully formal, quietly precise, yet full of powerful emotion. Haunted by a father ‘like a wounded bear’, Deaton’s poems are finely attuned and alert to the tensions in relationships.
