This book identifies and describes the geology and petrography of the building stones of this famous abbey but goes beyond that to explore their sources, transportation and use at Strata Florida and elsewhere. The broad history of medieval masons and their use and selection of building stones is briefly considered as are the location and road networks of the abbey.
